PRT's composite railroad ties are tested in a dedicated
laboratory that evaluates material and physical properties.
The materials are tested
for modulus of elasticity, impact strength, "lateral resistance" after pullout and tensile strength. The ties are tested
for modulus of rupture, rail
seat compression,
lateral push, spike/screw pullout and coefficient
of thermal expansion.
